Part of Orochi seems to have slithered to safety while the rest are sealed off by Susanoo. But Itachi is feeling the tremendous burden of conjuring such a powerful jutsu.

Desperate to fight back, Sasuke launches all his remaining arsenal of exploding tags and shuriken, only to be deflecting by a powerful defense that knocks him back.

Just as he is about to recover, Itachi’s bloody hand reaches out for his eye. Back against a solid wall, Sasuke frozen with fear, Itachi utters a few words before suddenly falling down to the ground. Is Itachi finally dead?

Naruto Manga Chapter 392

Desperately grasping for more chakra than he have, Orochi’s presence comes alive in the form of a huge Hydra.

But Susanoo proves to be an even tougher opponent, wielding a powerful weapon, the sword of Totsuka. Orochi realizes this too late, as a fatal stab from this sword causes its victim to be sealed forever in a genjutsu.

With Orochi permanently removed from Sasuke, Itachi is convinced that his little brother is finally defeated.

Naruto Manga Chapter 390 and 391

Sasuke’s own fire jutsu is consumed by the living black flames of Amaterasu, burning everything Itachi’s eye sets upon. Sasuke frantically tries to escape, but is caught in the end by the black fire. The flames die down and Itachi goes in to inspect the dead corpse lying in front of him, only to find a discarded skin.

Sasuke’s body replacement technique, copied from his former sensei Orochi, allows him to escape. Releasing his cursed seal, Sasuke creates another fireball that misses Itachi and goes straight for the skies. At that moment, the clouds thundered and a massive storm gathers above as Sasuke calls upon his most powerful jutsu, Kirin!

Travelling at near speeds of light, a bolt of lightning strikes the very ground Itachi stands guided by Sasuke’s hand. As the dust settles, Sasuke cries jubilantly at the sight of a fallen Itachi, but matters soon take an oh-so-repeated twist when Itachi rises up, seemingly having avoided certain death with the help of a ribcage-like weapon called Susano!

Naruto Manga Chapter 389

Sasuke calls upon his famous Kagebunshin Shuriken technique to disrupt Itachi’s Amaterasu, catching his brother by surprise. Both shurikens, controlled by Sasuke with a chakra string, allows him to detach the shuriken blades to becoming deadly flying daggers.

Itachi gets hit, and even Zetsu is surprised by that, as it is revealed that Itachi is reeling from the after-effects of the failed Tsukiyomi. Sasuke launches a fireball and goes in for the kill with a Chidori, but Itachi evades with a Katon of his own.

Up on the high dome of the Uchiha sanctuary, both brothers battle it out with their Fire ninjutsu, when suddenly Itachi conjures Amaterasu that threatens to consume Sasuke and everything in its path!

Naturo Manga Chapter 388

Itachi plucks one eye out, and goes for the other, but not before Sasuke goes into his Cursed Seal form. He tries to push Itachi at bay, but gets grappled from behind by a bunshin. As Itachi’s fingers reach for the other remaining eye, reality distorts into fake imagery.

In the end, it was just an illusion of the Tsukiyomi Itachi has placed on Sasuke, which proved futile against Sasuke’s strong emotion of hatred. Broken and dispelled, Itachi has one more card up his sleeves.

Since even the strongest genjutsu is useless against his brother, Itachi begins to form the seals of Amaterasu. Using two Mangekyou abilities one after the other, Itachi is truly pushing his limits, one that would probably mean Sasuke's victory if his Amaterasu misses its mark.

Naruto Manga Chapter 387

Sasuke and Itachi goes into a shuriken contest that ends up stalemate, with both of them using that opportunity to lunge forward into a grappling form. But within that space of a second, Itachi has conjured a Bunshin that took his place while he attacked from behind with a pair of shurikens.

Sasuke goes into a defensive position and summons a large shuriken charged with Chidori that cuts through Itachi’s bunshin. Caught by surprise, Itachi closes the deal by kicking Sasuke in the gut, sending him flying to the wall behind.

Locked in a vice like grip, Sasuke is about the experience surgery without anesthetics.

Naruto Manga Chapter 386

Itachi reveals it all in this chapter with a bit of story-telling, of two brothers who were born with the gift of the Mangekyou Sharingan. But cursed with blindness, the elder brother stole the eyes of his younger brother, thus gaining permanent usage of the Mangekyou Sharingan minus the blindness side-effect.

With this knowledge, Itachi intends to harvest Sasuke’s eyes for himself.

Sasuke, fueled with this revelation, isn’t going to surrender his organs that easily. But what can he do against his brother's power of the Mangekyou?!
